Ask Your Barber FAQs

Answers about the professional products, formulas and how to use them.

What makes Ask Your Barber products different?

Dark Stag worked closely with an international network of expert barbers to create and refine the products through honest, real-world testing. The result is a professional range built around day-to-day barbershop needs.

What products are in the Ask Your Barber range?

The range is deliberately focused on professional essentials rather than an endless set of confusing variations. Visit the Styling collection to see the current products and find the right finish, hold and format.

Are Ask Your Barber products vegan friendly?

Yes. The styling products are suitable for vegans, cruelty free and not tested on animals.

How easy are the products to wash out?

The formulas were developed to be water soluble for easier wash-out from clients' hair and barbers' hands. Product build-up can be removed with warm water and shampoo, followed by conditioner as normal.

Are Ask Your Barber products scented?

Scent is considered individually for each formula and tested with barbers. Check the current product description for its fragrance details; some products, such as styling powder, may be deliberately unfragranced.

What is Sea Salt Spray used for?

Sea Salt Spray adds gritty texture and boosted volume. Use it alone for a back-from-the-beach finish or as a primer before another styling product. It works particularly well for textured, mid-length and longer styles.

What is Styling Powder?

Styling Powder provides weightless volume, a matte finish and controllable, reworkable hold. Its fine format makes it easy to build the amount gradually, particularly on short to medium textured styles.

What is the difference between pomade and clay?

Matte clay gives a natural, no-shine finish with textured medium-to-strong hold. Pomade is better suited to smoother traditional shapes such as slick backs and side parts, where added shine is part of the finish.

How should I store the products?

Store products in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and close the packaging securely after use.

How long do the products last after opening?

When stored correctly, products should last for at least 12 months after opening. Always check the period-after-opening symbol and instructions on the individual package.

Are Ask Your Barber products natural or organic?

No. The range is developed for professional performance and is not described as natural or organic.

Where are Ask Your Barber products made?

Dark Stag styling products are proudly made in the UK.
